Hi, I use all the products I sell, all of them.  To increase day to day variety I use a few in multiple ways.

I moisten all the foods (ZooMed Grassland and Forest Tortoise Foods, and Purina Mills Organic Layer Crumbles) with plain water, and on other days I use one of the soakers.  The soakers include Cactus ChipsHibiscus, and Rose Hips.  Using soakers instructional PDF is here. How to use the soakers .

Details on Purina Mills (PM) layer crumbles are HERE on Tortoise Forum.

Using one of the foods MIXED in with regular diet items provides assurance that all trace nutrients are in the diet.

I use ZooMed instead of Mazuri, as it is qualitatively and quantitatively better than Mazuri.  The ZooMed foods are nonGMO, Mazuri is not.  Mazuri adds sugar, ZooMed does not.  ZooMed has a better fiber profile than Mazuri.

The layer crumbles are wholly organic and have a similar ingredient list to “old” Mazuri, without the sugar, and many times the calcium, enough calcium balanced with dietary D3 to support a chicken to lay an egg everyday. The Layer crumbles do not have the fiber content to be a complete stand alone food, and this can be resolved by using it with, or alternating with the ZooMed foods.

The blog today is not so long, but with the links to other documents it offers more reading.  The next blog will be a menu of links to all the Gel Food chefs out there that participated with the Gel Food promotion.
